The incident happened on August 17th but it just making news airwaves.

Woman dies in Neptune police custody

Katie Lee Thomas, 21, of Efland North Carolina, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor’s spokesman Charlie Webster. Her charge was a disorderly persons offense.

Thomas was in custody at the police department when she was found unresponsive and not breathing.

Authorities say performed CPR and she was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The incident is being investigated by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
