Honk is a musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Story incorporating the understanding of tolerance.
The play brilliantly portrays the story of the ugly (Paolo Montalban) duckling who is rejected by everyone but his mother, Ida (Kenita Miller), a sly tomcat who wants to eat Ugly, and barnyard creatures.
With the help of new friends that he meets along the way his journey home becomes an adventure and an exuberant celebration of being different!
This delightfully tuneful, witty retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling” is an enchanting comic musical for the entire family.
Genet takes on the role of several characters including the Turkey, who is afraid of Thanksgiving, a bullfrog, who understands what it means to be different, father swan, and Barnacles.
Michael Genet talked candidly with Unheard Voices about his career in acting and what brought him to the Jersey Shore to perform in this musical production. The veteran spoke about the realities of the acting business and what it takes to succeed in this tough industry.
