The event included trophies, certificates, presentations, and a buffet style breakfast which included eggs, bacon, pancakes, pastries, coffee, juice, grits, gravy, fruit salad and more.

Mrs. Dolly Mewborn, resident of Asbury Park and Emmanuel Baptist Church Kitchen Committee Administrator, supervised and organized the banquet.

The day included a special visit and presentation by Neptune Township councilman Kevin B. McMillan, Rev & Mrs. Warren Howell of St. Paul Baptist Church of Red Bank, plus Rev & Mrs. Brown of Calvary Baptist Red Bank.

Recipients

Ajee Wilson, of Neptune, was awarded a scholarship from the RBWTF Club because of her IAAF World Junior Championships 800-meter triumph in Barcelona, Spain.

Wilson spoke to and mentored RBWTF Club youth during All Shore Conference meets during the summer track and field season.

Councilman McMillan presented Wilson with a proclamation allocated from the Township of Neptune.

Candidate Adrin Ellis of Neptune, and longtime RBWTF Club participant and supporter, attending Morehouse College, was awarded a RBWTF Club Scholarship as well.

The scholarship brunch included a riveting sermon entitled “In your face!” shared by Rev. Moore of Mount Pisgah Baptist Temple, of Asbury Park.

Moore said to a crowd of over seventy that, “life may not look the way you want it to look or turn out the way you planned but we have the Lord’s word to help us overcome.”

Moore stated “the race isn’t given to the swift or the strong but to he who endures to the end.” Youth listened attentively.

Violet Lousaire, President of Red Bank Westside Track & Field Club and Rev Robert Perkins, Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church and RBWTF Club Head Coach awarded children with certificates and trophies.

Approximately 50 families signed up to participate in track & field program this year. Perkins said that “track & field program is only going to get bigger and better.”

The Red Bank Westside Track & Field Club is a Westside Ministerial Alliance initiative. Program is administered per the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Tinton Falls.

The RBWTF Club wants to be an effective helper by supporting our Monmouth County kids in making healthy, choices.
