Asbury Park Middle School students pay their respects to the victims of 9/11

Mr. Wronko’s students took a moment of silence to pay homage to the victims of 9/11. After the students paid their respects, they reflected on a world history lesson dealing with heroic ideal. Heroic ideal showed how the hero had to value his or her own life as well as the lives of others. The students informed Mr. Wronko that on 9/11 there were many heroes. For example, after being hit by separate airplanes, the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center were on the verge of collapse. This did not stop the firefighters and police officers from running into both buildings to try to save as many lives as they could. The students also stated the firefighters and police officers valued all these lives as much as their own or even more than their own. In addition, to the heroic ideal, Mr. Wronko and the students’ discussed how race, religion, and ethnicity did not matter on that day. All races and religions helped each other. Therefore, on 9/11/01, we were all united. The students concluded with something very important, we all should remain united!

In closing, Mr. Wronko joined the Runners Club in Belmar, New Jersey to participate in a memorial run for the victims of 9/11. During this run, there was no talking and at different intervals, everyone that ran got to read a victim’s name from Monmouth County. Reading the names of all the victims from Monmouth County helped bring comfort to those who lost their loved ones on 9/11.
