When executing a search warrant, officials found something unlikely. The search in Long Branch, N.J. led to the discovery of an alligator reports News 12 New Jersey.

Alligator found in Long Branch

Animal control officer Michael LoGrasso told News 12 that the 3.5-foot-long reptile was found inside a storage box.

“It’s pretty scary because you don’t know what’s going to happen,” LoGrasso said. “That thing can potentially do some damage.”

Illegal in New Jersey

The alligator is now in the care of Fish and Game experts. Owning an alligator can be illegal in New Jersey, with a fine of up to $25,000, according to News 12.
