New Jersey – A convicted sex offender, who went missing from a Middlesex County motel, has been taken into custody, according to various reports.

Missing sex offender found

Paul Timmendequas, 51, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bridgewater, after police got a tip from someone who spotted him fishing at the Washington Valley Reservoir, according to NJ.com.

Police arrested him, and then turned him over to the New Jersey State Parole Board, according to News 12 New Jersey.

It was the crimes of Timmendequas’ brother, Jesse Timmendequas, that led to the creation of Megan’s Law. Jesse Timmendequas was convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering 7-year-old Megan Kanka in 1994 in Hamilton Township.

Five years later, Paul Timmendequas was convicted of sexually assaulting two girls in East Brunswick, and he was sentenced to a seven-year prison term.

He is in the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick, reports said.
