The FMAD clinic is a series entitled School 2 Success that is of quality time enhancements focused on men’s health and parental involvement.

A component of Strategic Influence LLC, School2Success staff helps customize the clinic with three phases including a kids talk, men’s health session, and a sports clinic. The sports clinic at Neptune Middle School was open to all parents from the Neptune Community.

After a special performance by kids apart of Buddway Karate, fathers were able to go around to various tables to get information from organizations within the community.

Various organizations from the Boys & Girls Club, Girl Scouts of America, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Neptune Public Library, Second Baptist Church of Asbury Park, Jack & Jill, and Visiting Nurses Association (VAN) represented at the clinic giving out information to fathers and their daughters.

Neptune Public Library director John Bonny said they wanted to be a part of the fathers daughter event because they feel the library is an “intricate part of that sort of relationships between fathers and daughters.”

The second part of the event was a basketball clinic with former professional basketball player and retired WNBA player Tamecka Dixon.

Dixon, a native of Linden, NJ, says she came out to the event because her father was an important part on why she achieved the level of success she obtained. Dixon spoke to the girls about being passionate about what you want to do in life, following your dreams, and always having a plan.

The 40-year-old said she obtained an MBA while playing professional basketball and is now an entrepreneur owning several businesses including a rental car service.

Matthew Acquaviva brought his daughter Julia Ann to the sports clinic to learn about resources within the community and for his daughter to learn some basketball skills.

Retired Monmouth County Superior Judge Lawson believes the School2Success program is a “worthwhile program of fathers supporting their daughters .. having a daughter of my own, I know how important it is to nurture a daughter and bring her along”.

Dale Caldwell, CEO of Strategic Influence, says the School2Success program is to influence children in a positive way despite negative surroundings and circumstances. A positive influence can go a long way. “Influence students into all they can be”, Caldwell says.

The event was a success for fathers and their children to learn about different services within their community, getting health advice, while also bonding through the sports clinic.
