Monmouth County, NJ – Operating since 1949 the Monmouth County Cotillion Committee is set to celebrate their 67th Annual Scholarship Cotillion ball. The event caps off an intense 20+ week program introducing 22 seniors and 13 freshmen from area high schools (Asbury Park, Long Branch, Neptune, Monmouth Regional, Red Bank Catholic, High Tech, Freehold and Ocean Twp.) to career and college scholarship opportunities. The event will be held at the Ocean Spa Hotel in Long Branch on Sunday May 7th 2:00pm- 5:00pm. MCCCI’s Mission is to advance the idea of higher education in Monmouth County youth who have achieved their high school goals on the highest levels MCCCI has awarded over $1.7 mil to Monmouth County, NJ college-bound minority students in its 67 years.
The program provides an intensive 4-month program that offers exposure and education in Etiquette, Presentation, Poise, Public Speaking, Career Options, Mentoring and Coaching, and Community Service Projects. Its extended circle of support includes Monmouth County professionals who volunteer their time to conduct Empowerment Sessions and commit to ongoing, life-long One-on-One Mentoring relationships. The program culminates with the iconic Scholarship Ball where students are honored and presented with awards, recognizing their achievements. They also receive scholarships and enjoy an afternoon of waltzing displaying their talents attired in beautiful white ball gowns and formal tux.
Over $20,000 in scholarships and awards are given out to graduating high school seniors. MCCCI students go on to attend some the nation’s top colleges and select exciting careers as doctors, lawyers, scientists, artists, government leaders and entrepreneurs. The highlight of the event will be the crowing of the Scholarship King and Queen as well of awarding of numerous scholarships including the Florence B. Hayes Memorial Award, Avery Grant Awards, Cheryl Johnson Memorial Award, Beulah Jelks Award, McCowan Family Memorial Award, Julia Taylor Straughter Memorial Award, the Central Jersey Club of NANBPWC, Inc. and Mrs. Patricia Wilds. Monmouth County Cotillion is presented by Mrs. Mirian Croak.
