The above image was the second ad I did with my students for Prehistoric Times Magazine. This image was created based on stories that my students did for the Cretaceous Warzone project. The very first match up I had my students write about was based from Jurassic Park III, the Tyrannosaurus Rex taking on the Spinosaurus. In Jurassic Park III, the Spinosaurus killed the T-Rex. However, a lot of my students disagreed and with their project had the T-Rex kill the Spinosaurus because the T-Rex they mentioned could bite through not only flesh but also bone. Spinosaurus did not have a powerful bite like the T-Rex.

Another matchup got crazy. I had my students write about a Saber Tooth Tiger, Woolly Mammoth, Allosaurus, and Pteranodon taking on Tyrannosaurus Rex, Styracosaurus, and Triceratops on a volcano island. Besides the fight, in the background I wanted them to be aware of sea monsters. The students wrote an amazing story of this matchup and also made a diorama to go with it.

This project also made use of movie monsters such as Godzilla, King Kong, the Indominus Rex, and Gamera. Because of this project, other projects came about such as Hydra Wars, in which a dragon by the name of Hydra invades a Prehistoric Planet, and The Ray Harryhausen project. The Ray Harryhausen project was when my students took the monsters from Harryhausen’s films and put them into combat situations. Those projects were published in G-Fan Magazine.
