In addition, he spoke about his education, becoming a Mathematician, and working with the Clinton, Obama, and Trump administration. He then went into his job as an assemblyman. Mr. Thompson told the students he was working on in the legislature about changing the tax structure in New Jersey, his involvement with writing about the pension plans, encouraging young adults to go into computer science as a major, and increasing the minimum wage. In addition, he told the students that he was not in favor of offshore drilling because it would hurt the New Jersey economy because the NJ economy relies on tourism.

Mr. Thompson also brought about how he took over David Rible’s position when Mr. Rible became the head of the New Jersey Division of the Alcohol Beverage Control. Besides having this position as an assemblyman, Mr. Thompson spoke about being Mayor of Wall Township as well as possessing a pilot license for the Angel Patient Flights.

After Mr. Thompson’s presentation, he answered numerous questions from the students in Ghana and Mr. Wronko’s class. Some of those questions were:

Questions

What is the difference between an Assembly Person and a State Senator?

What measures are you taking to create jobs in New Jersey?

What is being done to keep companies in New Jersey?

Do you think that there should be more than one political party?

Do you feel that our current governor will consider the vice presidency or a cabinet position in the near future if a Democrat wins in 2020?

Will you run for governor?

All the students would like to thank Mr. Thompson for attending this Ghana session.
