AVENGERS END GAME/GODZILLA 2: KING OF THE MONSTERS/STAR WARS 9: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER/THE CRETACEOUS WARZONE/USE IT ALL!

When you are learning about the gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece, why not compare Zeus and Poseidon to the villain of the Avengers End Game, Thanos.

Avengers End Game and gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece

Zeus was king of heaven and ruled over the other gods. Poseidon was god of the sea. When Thanos got a hold over all the infinity stones, he became the god of the universe. For instance, in Avengers Infinity Wars, once Thanos got all of the stones, he just had to snap his finger once and then half of all of life no longer existed. To defeat this character, the Avengers first had to go back in time and get all the stones before him. Then they had to team up and fight.

Besides the gods and goddesses, you could compare Avengers Endgame to other mythology characters and the 1981 movie Clash of the Titans. For example, in the movie Avengers Endgame, Valkyrie riding on Pegasus reminded me of Bellerophon taming and riding Pegasus. In addition, Valkyrie riding Pegasus reminded me of the scene in Clash of the Titans where Perseus rode Pegasus. Furthermore, the flying Leviathans in Avengers Endgame reminded me of the Kraken in the Clash of the Titans. All the effects in Clash of the Titans were created by Ray Harryhausen.

Finally with Endgame, this movie could be compared to the Return of the King (Lord of the Rings Trilogy). The huge battle between the armies at the end of Endgame reminded me of the huge battle at the end of Return of the King. Both movies could be compared to both World Wars because of the idea of good versus evil, where the good was the United States and the evil Germany.

Now let’s push aside Avengers Endgame and see how Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters could be used. Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters could be compared to the use of atomic weapons. Godzilla, a creature born from radiation, was inspired by the use of atomic bombs during World War II. Because of the use of this weapon, the Japanese were inspired to make a monster born from it. In the original Godzilla movie, Godzilla represented the horrors of atomic weapons. Besides comparing Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters to the use of atomic weapons in World War II, his three headed opponent, King Ghidorah could be compared to the mythology of dragons as well as aliens in space and the three headed dragon which appeared in the Fantastic Four comic book. Furthermore, Rodan could be compared to the study of prehistoric flying reptiles such as the Pteranodon and Pterosaurs while Mothra could be compared to your modern day insects such as the Butterfly and the Bee. A good science lesson.

Now with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, this movie when it comes out could be compared to the Wars of the Diadochi. After Alexander the Great’s death, his empire had no heir. His generals went to war with one another. Now with these new Star Wars films, how did the First Order come into existence after Return of the Jedi? Apparently there had to be generals still left over like the Wars of the Diadochi and had their own private war to see who would be left in charge. At this point for Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker, I believe Kylo Ren should be in charge.

Pushing Star Wars aside, we now have the Cretaceous Warzone. My project allowed for imaginary battles to happen with creatures from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. This project could be compared to Jurassic World and Jurassic World II: The Fallen Kingdom. In those movie, there was ongoing dinosaur battles.

The point of all of this was to show how to compare things that we love and turn it into a learning experience.
