Angela Traymon is turning her pain into purpose by starting Ryseans Awareness Day to raise the alarm on addiction and help those battling the disease.
A Monmouth County mother is turning her pain into purpose after losing her son to substance abuse.
Angela Traymon never thought she would lose her son to addiction.
He was loving, kind and would do anything to help anyone.
He was an outdoors man who had an active presence in the community, fluent in various languages, and loved his family.
“He was a great uncle, father, brother, cousin and lastly my son,” said Traymon.
But unbeknownst to Ms. Traymon, her son was suffering in silence.
On September 18th, 2020 at 4:15am, Angela Traymon received a phone call she wishes on no parent.
At only the tender age of 37, her son Rysean Traymon passed away from complications of addiction.
Angela is now using Rysean’s story to raise the alarm on substance abuse and to let others suffering know you are not alone.

Statistics
According to Addiction Center, almost 21 million Americans have at least one addiction, yet only 10% of them receive treatment. And coupled with depression, addiction becomes a battle to fight.
Depression is common among people battling an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Substance abuse can trigger or amplify the feelings of loneliness, sadness and hopelessness often associated with depression.
Angela Traymon wants to change the narrative in hopes it can save a life.
Ryseans Awareness Day
On Saturday, September 18th, 2021 Angela Traymon will launch Ryseans Awareness Day in honor of her son and to spread awareness on substance abuse.
“I thank the people who have stuck by me and helped make all of this possible. I will be having speakers come out to express the severity of addiction, to express to those in need they are not alone and the fight is not over,” said Traymon.
September 18th
The first annual Ryseans Awareness Day will take place at Wolcott Park in Eatontown, N.J. from 1pm to 6pm.
“It is hard, but I know this is something I must do. It’s taking everything out of me to get this done,” said Traymon.
Addiction Hotline
The first of the battle is knowing you have support.
At the event, Rysean’s mother will introduce a 24-hour hotline to help assist with rehab treatment, depression awareness and overall moral support for people fighting any issue in their life.
The line will be open and ready to use that day.
After the tragic death of her son, the days are not easy but Angela Traymon remains steadfast to keep her son’s memory alive by raising awareness on substance abuse.
