Authorities have identified the victims and an alleged suspect from a fatal shooting in Newark last week.

Authorities have identified the victims and an alleged suspect from a fatal shooting in Newark last week.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, on May 3, at 8:33 p.m., Newark police responded to a report of a shooting in an apartment on the 300 block of Johnson Avenue.

Police have identified the deceased as Wyleek Shaw and an 8-year-old boy with the initials Z.L. Another victim, identified as Tajion Simmons, suffered nonfatal injuries. A report by rlsmedia.com, identified the child as Zahmire Lopez.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Alleged suspect

The alleged shooter, identified as Everette Rand, was killed during a shootout with police officers.
