Just recently Katherine Avila Roman and Noemi Martinez, Mr. David Wronko’s 8th grade students from Asbury Park High School, worked on a Memorial Day artwork poster with many iconic symbols and images from American History.
Memorial Day Artwork
For instance, when designing their Memorial Day artwork poster, they used the Bald Eagle, the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, the raising of the American Flag at the Battle of Iwo Jima, and a tombstone representing Arlington National Cemetery.
The Bald Eagle was used to show strength and freedom of America.
The Liberty Bell was used to show freedom for all citizens.
The Statue of Liberty was used to show a strong friendship with France and acknowledged as a symbol of democracy and freedom worldwide.
The raising of the American Flag at the Battle of Iwo Jima was used to show American bravery and the will to never give up. For instance, this battle was between the United States and Japan. It was a very harsh battle with no one getting the upper hand. However, once the soldiers raised the American flag, the United States was able to defeat Japan. Lastly, the tombstone was used to represent Arlington National Cemetery and all the veterans who served from every American conflict from the American Revolution to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This poster was used on May 20, 2023 at the 1333 VFW Post in Neptune during a Memorial Day Ghana Session.
