Former mayor of Neptune Township Dr Michael Brantley has passed away.
Former mayor of Neptune Township, Dr Michael Brantley, passed away on Jan 6th.
He was 79.

Dr Michael Brantley was a respected dentist
Born in 1944 in Monticello, FL, Dr. Brantley was a graduate of Neptune High.
He attended Morgan State College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. The following year, he served as a Captain and a Chief Laboratory officer in the United States Army.
After the military, Dr. Brantley attended and graduated from MeHarry Medical College, School of Dentistry in Nashville, TN where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He continued his education with a Dental Internship at UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School and Martland Hospital in Newark, NJ.
He would later open his own practice for 35 years in Asbury Park, N.J, being recognized as one of the top dentists in Monmouth County.
He served the community
Not only was he a respected dentist, Dr. Michael Brantley was a community staple, dedicating his life to service.
Local politics
In 2006, he was voted on the Neptune Township committee and served on many committees thereafter.
He was deputy mayor and had multiple stints as mayor. He most recently won reelection in 2021.
Memberships and awards
Dr. Brantley was an active member of the Monmouth County Men’s Club and a member of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
He has received numerous accolades, including the “Man of the Year” award from The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the Brookdale Community College Foundation’s “Health Care Service Award.”
He was inducted into the Neptune High School Hall of Fame in 2001 and on February 24th, 2001, the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders’ proclaimed it as “Michael Brantley D.D.S Day”.
He leaves behind a wife and a host of relatives and friends.
